Standard Terms
Unless otherwise indicated for the specific gallery or image, all rights are reserved. Images may not be copied, distributed, modified or used commercially without written permission.
Creative Commons Galleries
Some galleries are released under a Creative Commons license. The applicable license is indicated for each gallery on SmugMug.
When an image is marked CC BY 4.0, it may be freely used, including commercially, under the following conditions:
- Attribution must accompany each use: “Photo: Sten Vesterli”
- Where the medium allows, please link to one of the following:
- On Instagram: tag @stenvesterli
- On websites, blogs, or other online media: link to vesterli.dk/photo
- In print or other contexts without links: “Photo by Sten Vesterli” alone is sufficient
- The license permits commercial use, including marketing materials, posters, press kits and social media

Performing Artists
Photos of performing artists from public events are available under CC BY 4.0 for the artist’s own marketing purposes. Check the specific gallery for the applicable license.
If you are depicted and wish to have an image removed from the public gallery, please contact me at sten@vesterli.dk.
Private Events
Photos from private events are shared with participants in closed, password-protected galleries. All rights are reserved, and these galleries are not released under Creative Commons.
Participants are welcome to use the photos for personal purposes without restriction: sharing with family and friends, printing, and keeping for personal enjoyment. When posting on social media, please include attribution (“Photo: Sten Vesterli”) where practical. For commercial use, publications, or posting on public websites and blogs, please get in touch first.
Photos from private events that do not show identifiable individuals – landscapes, activity shots, equipment details, and similar – may be used in my public portfolio and on SmugMug under the standard terms of this page.
Street Photography and People in Public Spaces
Some images are taken in public spaces and may show identifiable individuals. I strive to photograph respectfully and avoid situations that may appear intrusive or demeaning.
If you are depicted in one of my publicly available images and do not wish to appear, please contact me at sten@vesterli.dk with a link to the image or a description. The image will be removed without question and without requiring justification, normally within 7 days.
